Mazzio's Italian Eatery was started in 1961 by Ken Selby. Selby is still the chairman of Mazzio's and has helped the the Mazzios chain and Mazzios menu grow. You can also find Mazzios in 170 locations in 10 states, mainly Mazzios Tulsa, Mazzios okc, Mazzios Norman, and Mazzios Oklahoma.
Mazzio's CEO Greg LippertMazzio's began as single restaurant competing with larger chains. Mazzio's survived, though, and is now competing not with Little Caesars, but with other restaurants such as Bennegan's or Outback Steakhouse. Even Pizza Hut has added the Pizza Hut Buffet and has changed the image of some of its loctations to Pizza Hut Italian Bistro. In short, the restaurant atmosphere for a pizza restaurant is a niche shared with Mazzios by few. Mazzios Expansion
Mazzio's restaurants are mostly 3500 square feet or more locations. However, more recently Mazzios is leaning towards opening smaller locations in a strip mall that might be about 2500 sq feet. This way the owner doesn't have to worry as much about the building and can focus on the food and giving us more mazzios coupons!
The new prototype of Mazzio's franchise will open in July of 2009, but will it be another Mazzios in Tulsa Mazzios Oklahoma, or another location? Selby is keeping his new type of restaurant a secret.
Mazzio's in Tulsa near the University of Tulsa Mazzios will be remodeled this September. Mazzio's hopes that this shows customers how happy Mazzios is with their business.
